Devconnect 2025 Reflection
Happy Holidays!
It's been a rough getting back into the groove of things since the whole family unit got sick. But figured id still share my thoughts on BA. Some of this was written while I was still there. And later half is more recent (closer to Christmas). I wanted to take the time to write about my Devconnect experience and overall experience here in BA.
As some know, I flew my whole family here with me because asking my wife to take care of my kid alone while I am in another country having fun is not how I roll. Traveling with kids is always a fun time. I don't say that in jest; its rough but I always have to remind myself that it is short lived and will end soon. Luckily this time I got lucky and my kid slept for most of it. Lesson learned in traveling is Miami Airport closes early (10pm local time) so bring more snacks!
The first half of my trip was mostly focused on my event and conference. I had a scavenger hunt running for Lil Nouns DAO, which was the 2nd edition as the pilot run was done at Farcon. So most of my energy was focused on hitting the ground running and networking with folks for the conference.
A couple of things that stood out to me that I cover in more detail below:
- Some folks said this conference sucked
- Privacy was definitely the talk of town
- The amount of folks shocked when they found out I didn't work at a web3 company cracked me up
- We need more Spanish speakers and overall more representation of other languages at these conferences
- RWAs
This was my first major ETH conference I have ever attended and overall I enjoyed it. I over heard from some folks that this one sucked or didn't have enough parties or raves. And don't get me wrong I do love a good rave, I've been going to raves since 2005 but I would not bank on an ETH conference delivering an amazing rave haha.
Privacy was definitely something most folks where talking about. Could have been the Aztec sale happening at the same time but I genuinely think we will see more privacy related enhancements and tooling come out soon. Zcash has been holding its price discovery, Monero keep trucking along. Railgun is still popular and as ZK becomes more common place we should see more investment in privacy in the space. All roads lead to privacy!
My current role in the space is one that changes weekly. But my overall investment in the space continues to rise. 13 years in and I find myself continue to double, triple down on what this space can bring to the table. I still haven't found a consistent way of funding myself but I have consistently found that betting on myself and what I am doing is working. You read my thoughts on creator tokens and what worked for me below. Overall I will continue doing content and carving out a space for myself even if all the signs point that I should quit.

At the conference I found myself speaking on behalf of certain booths when the person at the booth didn't know how Spanish which struck me that we need more representation of protocols, apps etc in more languages. Crypto is a global industry and it was clear to me some brands were not ready for Spanish speakers to come to their booths to ask questions in Spanish. Happy I got to represent a couple of protocols in this regard and leverage my Spanish speaking skills.
The last thing that stood out to me was the fact that my hobby of collecting Pokemon cards is getting popular in crypto space thanks to RWAs. From my conversations with folks over my idea of $cardboard I ended up getting convinced to spend more time here. I am exploring what collecting onchain means. If this is you, join us at $cardboard. Crypto has many unique powers to change the collectible space with RWAs and I want to be at the forefront of that tech revolution.
Excited for 2026 and already hard at work with more meetups, more content and overall messing around onchain. Have a great rest of 2025 and see you in 2026.
